On 7 May 2025, REHDA Melaka held a productive meeting with the SPAN Melaka Director Tn TS Tahsilazam bin Othman, and his team regarding the implementation of the new MSIG Volume 1 Guidelines. The main focus was on the challenges of new 20-meter setback (buffer zone) requirement for covered and buried Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs), as well as the 10-meter setback for fully enclosed STPs for projects with Planning Approval (KM) obtained before 1 March 2025.
SPAN also mentioned on the reduction of the Sewerage Capital Contribution (SCC) rates, via a five-tier system based on residential unit pricing effective from 1 March 2025. Under the new structure, the contribution is scaled based on the price of the residential property.
The meeting facilitated constructive dialogue on the practical challenges of the new MSIG guidelines. SPAN Melaka urging developers to adhere to updated requirements for all new project developments.
